CEVSLE  AWARDS

The CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR VETERINARY SCIENCE & LIVESTOCK ENTREPRENEURSHIP (CEVSLE) has instituted a number of awards. Awards are awarded to Veterinary Professionals & Livestock Entrepreneurs who have excelled in professional competence as assessed by appropriate criteria. The CEVSLE administers at least 18 groups of awards. Where an application is required, the last date for receiving award application is one month before the opening day of conference. The awards are listed below with respective criteria for each one of them. Please note that only Members of  CEVSLE are eligible for the awards. Non-members if otherwise found eligible for any award, the President may consider them for special awards.

 

GENERAL VIEW OF INSTITUTION OF AWARDS

  1. Under the category of ‘Award’ only those recognitions are included which are having a set selection procedure after evaluation of the achievements of the candidates by a panel of experts. At least three applicantsshould be there for each such Award for consideration of the panel in a particular year. If number of applicants are less than three, it should be deferred to next subsequent year when it can be considered even if two applicants are there. Single candidate cannot be considered for award in any case.
  2. “Fellowship of CEVSLE” should be the highest award of CEVSLE and it should be awarded to an esteemed Veterinarian or Livestock Entrepreneur  (CEVSLE-Life Member) who is at least 45 years of age and had contributed significantly in advancement of Veterinary Profession or Livestock Entrepreneurship for at least 25 years. Once a Veterinarian/Entrepreneur receives Fellowship of CEVSLE, he/she cannot be considered for any other CEVSLE Award in future. However, he/she can be co-author of the work/publication for other awards of CEVSLE. The other criteria as mentioned in point 1 will be applicable for fellowship award too. The executive committee of CEVSLE may consider awarding Honorary Fellowship for an outstanding scientist (VETERINARIAN/Non-VETERINARIAN, Indian or foreigner) in any field of animal health. The member of Fellowships to be awarded should depend on number of applications. If 3 applicants –1 award, 4 applicants- 2 awards, 6 or more applicants-3 awards in any case, in a particular year, not more than 3 fellowship should be awarded in a specific year.
  3. Every award should carry pre-fix CEVSLE and suffix “Year of award e.g. CEVSLE Best Veterinarian Award-2022”. If in some category, more than one award is there, the CEVSLE  award will be highest in category, followed by those sponsored by some esteemed Veterinarians.
  4. CEVSLE Awards may be instituted in the name of any family member/non-Veterinarians of any esteemed CEVSLE  Life Member.
  5. The Hon. President or Hon. Secretary General (on behalf of President) will constitute a 3-5 members panel for evaluating through scoring on specific  proformathe applicants work or presentation as the case may be and the cumulative score given by the individual panelist will be considered for preparing merit list. These documents will be kept in CEVSLE records for one year for sorting out any discrepancy, if arise.
  6. Each award will carry a printed certificateof the specific award having names of all the authors. The certificates will be given to each author. However, appropriate memento will be given to senior author only and the expenses will be met by CEVSLE or sponsored fund, as the case may be.
  7. At a time CEVSLE members are allowed to apply for two categories of Awards to give opportunity to maximum number of life members.
  8. Any Life-Member CEVSLE wishing to institute an award in his/her name or in name of some renowned Veterinarians /Entrepreneurs will have to donate Rs. 25,000/- to CEVSLE. The category, terms and conditions, modality of the Award, however, will be decided by EC CEVSLE.

 

  1. YOUNG SCIENTISTS AWARDS (Three Nos.)

CEVSLE considers young Veterinarians as its future of profession and encourages them by rewarding and awarding by a number of awards and honours. There are three awards for young scientists presenting scientific papers during annual conference. Three best presentations at a specially organized session are considered for the award. The awards are the following:

Award History and Sponsorship: 

 

Rules of the Award :

  1. The Hon. President, CEVSLE shall constitute a ‘three member committee’ to select the Awardees and the decision of the judges will be final.
  2. The papers adjudged for awards would be published in PASHUDHAN PRAHAREE.
  3. The participants for this award should submit articles to the Pashudhan Praharee before the last date of conference as per announcement, indicating the paper to be presented for Young Scientist Award. No last minute intimation to shift a paper from any technical session to Young Scientist Award will be entertained.
  4. This Award contains certificate (to all authors) and memento (to young author).

5.The first recipient of the award should be a Life Member (s) of CEVSLE below 35 years age.

6.The award is given to an individual or to a team of scientists, which need to best at the time of application.

 

3. FELLOW OF CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR VETERINARY SCIENCE & LIVESTOCK ENTREPRENEURSHIP (FCEVSLE)

Rules of the Award

  1. Outstanding Veterinarians & Entrepreneurs based on their contribution to the development of Livestock Entrepreneurship or Veterinary Education /Research activity can apply for the Fellowship.
  2. The applicant should be a Veterinarian or Livestock Entrepreneur of eminence at least 45 years of age and had contributed significantly in advancement of Veterinary science or Livestock Entrepreneurship  for 25 year with a standing of 2 years as Life Member.
  3. The application includes the following which has to be submitted at the conference venue.
  4. Self-Appraisal Report of 250 wordswhich may form part of the citation if selected for the award.
  5. Full biodata including with all contributions in Veterinary field/Livestock entrepreneurship.

4. Prof. G. Devegowda Award in Poultry Science -2022

To honor and celebrate legacy of  Prof. G. Devegowda, his friends, students and Centre of Excellence for Veterinary Science & Livestock Entrepreneurship (CoEVSLE)  have established an ‘Endowment Fund’. Income from this endowment will be used to support an award in his name to recognize achievements of outstanding scientists in the field of Poultry science.

He is a veterinary graduate and has obtained his doctorate degree in animal sciences from the University of Minnesota, USA. He is the recipient of the Biotechnology medal of excellence, the International Feed Industry’s award for his contribution in the field of Biotechnology and Nutrition. He also got the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Animal Feed Technology. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences and Recipient of the Indian poultry science association lifetime achievement award for his contribution to innovative poultry research and development.

He is widely traveled (visited more than 75 countries) and presented scientific papers. He worked as Visiting Scientist / Professor at North American Biosciences Center, USA. He served on the Editorial Board of World’s Mycotoxin Journal (2004 to 2012). He worked as Professor and Head, Division of Animal Sciences, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.

Presently Prof. G. Devegowda is an Independent Nutritionist and President of Institution of Veterinarians of Poultry Industry.

 

   The Award

The award is named “Prof. Devegowda Award  of Excellence in Poultry science”. It will be given annually to  05  Indian  poultry  scientists  irrespective  of  age.  It  will  carry  a  cash  award  of  Rs  1000/,  a  citation, and a plaque. The awardee will be invited to award ceremony either off line or online as per the situation prevailing during the time  to receive the award and deliver a lecture on his/her research contributions to poultry.

 

Nomination and selection procedures:

 

Nominations for the award should be sent on a prescribed nomination form (to be attached shortly ) along with the  supporting  documents.  Only  the  nominations  with  complete documentation will be considered for the award. A jury composed of eminent scientists appointed by the CoEVSLE will choose the most deserving recipient and the recommendation of the jury will be final.The inaugural award will be given in April 30th  2022 at Bengaluru. The deadline to receive nominations is 15th April, 2022. The Awardee will be announced by April 20th, 2022.
